With Thanksgiving a little over two weeks away we’re going to share with you The Minimalists Guide to a Litchfield Beach Holiday Vacation. This year’s Thanksgiving could turn out to be one of the most relaxing and low-key holidays you’ve ever experienced, especially if you spend it at the beach with us. We have plenty of holiday vacation rentals available that are just waiting for guests to arrive. Large or small, all come fully furnished and have well equipped kitchens suitable for making a meal for any minimalist and their guests. Let the following tips guide you and you’ll find you won’t have to spend days in the kitchen preparing for a meal that takes 15 minutes to eat. And best of all – it’s not what you’re eating, it’s about who you share the meal with and the thanks that you give. Happy Thanksgiving to all of you from all of us at Litchfield Real Estate.

To be a minimalist requires you to break out of tradition a bit and maybe let go of the ways you’ve always done things. Open your mind up and consider a new way, an easier way, perhaps a less expensive way of cooking your holiday meal this year. Tip #1. Everything doesn’t have to be made from scratch. You can purchase a tasty pumpkin or other types of pie from a local bakery or a Girl Scout bake sale and your stomach will be perfectly happy with that. Tip #2. While less food won’t feed more people, less choices make it easier to decide what to eat. Skip the four vegetables and have just one. Don’t have two types of stuffing when one can be a feast. You don’t need a ham and a turkey when one or the other is enough. Tip #3. Don’t spend hours making what you can easily buy inexpensively. This is tricky. You can actually buy an entire meal already prepared and it would suit some minimalists just perfectly. On the other extreme could be a TV dinner or a turkey sandwich and a bag of chips. You have to find your own way here and decide how you wish to define minimalism. Is it about less money spent or is it about less time spent in preparation and more time being with the people you care about? Tip #4. Downsize that bird. If everyone in your family eats only white meat and the dark meat usually winds up in the dog’s dish, don’t buy a whole turkey! Buy one or two turkey breasts and lay the stuffing beneath it. You won’t have near the waste but then your dog won’t be quite as pleased with you either. Tip #5. These days you can buy already prepared side dishes that just need a few minutes in the microwave. If you truly want to spend less and use what you buy, don’t buy foods everyone but you likes because it will be you eating the leftovers.

Tip #6. Make this be the year you skip the appetizers and save your appetite for the main entrée. Too often people miss breakfast and then attack the appetizers only to find they’ve taken the edge off and don’t enjoy their dinner as much. Save your time and save your money for the big event. Tip #6. One of the best minimalist ideas of all is to just go out to eat. Nothing too extravagant. Just somewhere nice and simple that is serving a Thanksgiving dinner. Check the local newspapers and you may find some churches that are having a dinner that is open to the public. No matter where you dine, after enjoying a holiday meal take the time to walk, drive, or bicycle to the nearest beachfront and treat yourself to a leisurely walk. Be sure to look around and you’ll notice you’re surrounded by some of the most beautiful scenery in the country. When you’re done drive through some of our neighborhoods and just notice how well kept and maintained the properties in our neighborhoods are. This area is a gorgeous and relaxed coastal environment we think you’d love to call home. If you’d like us to show you around while you’re in town just give us a call at 800-437-4241 and we’d be happy to get together with you.
