Tips on Finding a Pawleys Island Rental for Your Multigenerational Travel Group
Beach-trippers to the Pawleys Island/Litchfield Beach area have a long tradition of caravaning with the whole multigenerational group. Finding a good beach rental fit can be a challenge but repeat visitors know the ropes for selecting a floorplan that works when everyone is staying together under one roof.
First, don’t delay! Fall is the best time of year to plan your annual beach trip while choices are still deep, thus increasing your odds of finding the right rental. If you haven’t already, rally the troops, agree on dates, and start looking for the perfect rental home.
Second, think outside of the box. A big house does not always mean it has separate living spaces for privacy or time-out. Stretching the budget is not always necessary either. Here are some things to look for while searching for your “want to be together separately” crowd.
LOOK FOR A DUPLEX
A duplex is an excellent way to have separation under one roof for multifamily travelers. Duplex beach rentals in the Pawleys Island area are often listed separately, so how do you find it? The clue is in the name. Pull up the entire inventory alphabetically. When you see two names that correlate, such as Beach House Up and Beach House Down, then you probably found a duplex. Check for overlapping availability.
LOOK FOR COMMON AREAS ON EACH FLOOR
Alternatively, look for duplicate common areas distributed on different floors. Does the home have bedrooms and a living area on more than one floor? Does the home offer two kitchens or a kitchenette in another part of the home? Common areas with a bedroom or two on ground level might be ideal for travel members like grandparents. Rental sites typically do not have floor plan filters so this search can take more time. Sometimes it’s quicker to call and ask.
LOOK FOR MULTIPLE GATHERING SPACES
Another way to think about being comfortably together under one roof is to look for a home with lots of gathering spaces. In a southern coastal region with temperate weather like Pawleys and Litchfield, rental homes can double their livable space by extending outdoors. A single raised beach home could potentially have a furnished outdoor deck or patio, a sitting area underneath and a screened porch in addition to having a TV den, sunroom and game room.
Litchfield Real Estate & Vacation Rentals has an exceptional selection of beach homes with floorplans perfect for separate “but together” living arrangements. Each layout is unique, which means one floorplan may provide a better fit than another.
