FEBRUARY

Hammock Coast Bird Festival – February 9 – 11, 2024

When it comes to a birding experience, there’s nothing quite like the Hammock Coast with its miles of pristine beaches, marshes and rivers teeming with birds and waterfowl, as well as tens of thousands of acres of protected forests. 

Registration is all-inclusive and provides you access to tours, lectures, events and two evening dinners, one with Keynote Speaker Dr. Patrick McMillan! Registration begins in December each year and continues until capacity (FULL IN 2024).

Annual Romance in the Gardens – February 14, 2024

Celebrate Romance in the Gardens by renewing your wedding vows on Valentine’s Day! A nondenominational ceremony will be held in the Arboretum, followed by a southern cake reception at the Leonard Pavilion featuring dancing to the music of Paul Grimshaw.

A unique experience that lasts a lifetime, this annual event is shared and treasured by couples of all ages. Tickets are available for one of two sessions: $50/couple members, $55/couple non-members.

Lee Minton Signature Series featuring Danny Bacher – February 27, 2024

Danny Bacher is an award-winning singer, saxophonist, songwriter and entertainer in the fullest sense of the term. He’s not only a master of the demanding soprano sax but combines his virtuosity on the instrument with a talent for comedy and narrative storytelling. He’s a smooth and cool individual who makes hot jazz and pop, cut from the cloth of the great Louis Prima and Mel Torme. Bacher swings with pizzazz, scats and sings with a smoky voice, all adding to his compelling stage presence.

General Admission is $35. Doors Open at 6:00 pm. There is no reserved seating, all seats are first come first serve. There will be light appetizers and a cash bar provided by The Village House.

Read Across America Day at the Enchanted Storybook Forest – March 2, 2024

Brookgreen Gardens invites you to join us for our annual Read Across America Day at the Enchanted Storybook Forest from 10:00 a.m.- 3:00 p.m. A day where nature and literacy are intertwined in a safe environment, that will foster learning and creativity. Children’s stories will come alive through exciting make-and-take crafts, S.T.E.M. challenges, live animals, and exciting games.

Dress up as your favorite book character and join us for a fun-filled day. Free with Garden admission.

Annual Garden Symposium: The Sustainable Living Garden – March 9, 2024

Explore a day of sustainable gardening with experts, garden tours, and hands-on experiences in beautiful Brookgreen Gardens. Lineup includes keynote speaker Doug Tallamy on Restoring Nature’s Relationships at Home as well as two general speakers: first Laura Del Vecchio on Gardening for Pollinators with Edibles and second Sharon Turner and Andy Schwartz on Sustainable Practices for Homeowners.

The schedule also features a sustainability panel discussion session plus two concurrent workshops – one on alternative photography with Natalie Jones and the other is a talk and tour on Heron, Grouse and Loon with Jason Flynn. Two optional pre-symposium tours will visit the Greenhouse Complex and Bethea’s Garden or Zoo Horticulture.

General registration is $70 members or $80 non-members. Optional pre-symposium tours $15/person.

Waccamaw Neck Arts Alliance: Old Town Hall Art Show – March 11, 2024

Presenting works by over 35 members of the Waccamaw Neck Arts Alliance. The show includes a variety of work from paintings in all mediums as well as potters and local authors. The building is a charming 1930’s structure once used as the Town Hall for Pawleys Island. Show and sales open free to the public.

SOS Charity Golf Event at The Reserve Club – March 18, 2024

Annual charity golf outing at the prestigious Reserve Golf Club in Pawleys Island! This event raises funds for Oak Tree Farm, an affordable housing community for adults with autism and intellectual disabilities. This year’s event will help defray the costs of 36 washer/dryer sets for the newest residents. Enjoy great golf and fellowship, and raise money for a good cause.

$600/foursome includes entry, lunch and beverages, and a hole Sponsorship! Join us for a great outing: 11 am Registration and 12 noon shot-gun start.

3rd Annual Huntington Beach State Park Kite Festival – March 23 – 24, 2024

Eco-friendly outdoor enjoyment! This 3rd Annual Kite Festival at Huntington Beach State Park provides a spectacular kite flying experience along a pristine miles-long beach offering plenty of room for everyone. Photographers will love this colorful coastal opportunity too!

APRIL

77th Annual Tour of Historic Homes & Plantations – April 5 – 6, 2024

For over 75 years, the Prince George Winyah Church Women have hosted the Tour of Historic Plantations and Homes each spring. Visitors have a unique opportunity to tour select historic plantations, town houses, and gardens located in and around Georgetown, South Carolina. Tickets are required, and we recommend you purchase them in advance. All money raised by the Tour is allocated to community outreach and the preservation of our historic church buildings. The success of the Tour has made a difference in the lives of the poor, the friendless, and the needy in our community, which continues to be our prayerful aim in this endeavor.

VibeTime 2 – A Flying Disc & Music Festival – April 13 – 14, 2024

The second annual VibeTime Flying Disc & Music Festival kicks off on April 13, 2024. Head over to Stables Park in Pawleys Island for live music, art, disc golf, vendors, food trucks, dog show and demos and so much more. The Saturday band lineup includes We Saw a Bear, The Settlement and Underground Springhouse (2 sets). The sanctioned Elements Era Disc Golf Tourney takes place on Sunday, April 14 on the Stables Park disc course.

Art Under the Oaks: Annual Art Show / Fundraiser – April 13 – 14, 2024

Laid back Lowcountry vibe art show takes place under the beautiful live oaks at Litchfield Marketplace on the corner of Ocean Highway and Willbrook Boulevard. Art, jewelry, photography, woodwork and more will be on display to browse as well as food booths, entertainment and raffles. Last year’s fundraiser supported elderly dog adoptions.

Gator Gauntlet 5K at Huntington Beach State Park – April 20, 2024

Are you faster than a gator? Come find out at The Gator Gauntlet 5K. Dress up like a gator or wear a crazy costume and join the fun – a special prize will be given for the most outrageous costume! This race is open to everyone from beginner runners, joggers and experienced athletes to dog walkers – all are welcome. Pets are welcome too but must be on a 6-foot or shorter leash at all times and non-aggressive. This race will be timed. All registered participants will receive a souvenir and is eligible for door and top place finisher prizes.

All proceeds go toward trail improvement projects at Huntington Beach State Park. Come out and have some fun, explore the park, and support a special place on the beach!

Registration for the Gator Gauntlet 5K is $45 and includes park admission. Register online by April 19, 2024.

Brookgreen Gardens Art Festival – April 27, 2024

Keepsakes, the Brookgreen Shop, proudly presents the Art Festival at Brookgreen Gardens. This two-day event showcases the fine craftsmanship and quality art being produced regionally and throughout the nation.  

Come and enjoy the work of talented artists and artisans at the annual Brookgreen Art Festival. Painting, sculpture, fabric art, pottery, glass, and more will be available to browse under the majestic live oaks.

11th Annual Bridge2Bridge Run – April 27, 2024

This year’s race includes a 12K, 5K, and a return of the 13.1-mile race. The Bridge2Bridge Run benefits the non-profit Friendship Place.

Friendship Place works to provide people with the opportunity to overcome crises and work toward self-sufficiency. For more than 20 years, they have fed the hungry, provided job readiness training, and worked to creatively and cost-effectively meet the unmet needs of the Georgetown County Community.

Registration begins January 1 with tiered pricing the closer to the run day. The 5K starts at $40, then $45 in March, $50 in April, $60 on run day. The 12K starts at $65, then $70 in March, $75 in April, $85 on run day. The Half starts at $95, then $105 in March, $115 in April, $130 on run day.

No refunds and no dogs are allowed for any distance. All mandatory cutoff point times must be met for the half marathon. Cutoff point times of day will not be adjusted if the race is required to be delayed. Walkers are recommended for the 12K or 5K. If you choose to walk and fall behind pace, you will be picked up by the sag wagon. Strollers are allowed in the 5K race but must start in the back. Runners who participate in the 12K and Half Marathon must be to the Half Marathon mile 12 marker and off Highway 17 by 10 am.
