Whether you’re Irish or not there are plenty of local area celebrations taking place to provide you with numerous opportunities for celebrating St. Patrick’s Day. Once a year it’s all about the green – the Irish green! Here’s a run down of what’s going on in the area.

 

4th Annual St. Patrick’s Day Kilt Run 5k and 10k Saturday, March 14 The 4th Annual St. Patrick’s Day Kilt Run is a 5k, 10k, or you can sign up for a 15k by taking the ‘Double Shot Challenge’ and running in both! The Kilt Run takes place at the Murrells Inlet Marsh Walk. Start and Finish line as well as the post race party is at the Dead Dog Saloon. Dress comfortable for running. While Kilts are not required they are encouraged and awards will be given to the best dressed as well as for the most St. Patrick’s Spirited runners. All races are certified 5k, and 10k, and will be chip timed by Coastal Timing. Awards will be given for overall winners in the Double Shot, Overall and Masters in 5k and 10k, and top 3 in each age group going every 10 years from 19 and under to 70+. Participants receive the event, water and Gatorade stations throughout course, a special event T-Shirt (only online preregistered runners are guaranteed their size) a breakfast buffet and drink ticket following the event from the Dead Dog Saloon, live music, door prizes, and awards! Preregistration and packet pick up expo is at the Dead Dog Saloon on Fri 3/13 from 3-7 p.m. and Saturday morning from 7:15 – 8:45 a.m. 5k begins at 8:25 and 10k begins at 9:00. 1st Annual Marshwalk BBQ Festival and Cook-off March 13 @ 7:00 p.m. – March 14 @ 5:00 p.m. Come out and enjoy wings, bbq, and ribs at the 1st Annual Marshwalk BBQ Festival and Cook-off hosted by The Wicked Tuna. There will be a “Wing Ding” Friday evening at 7 p.m. for the initial kickoff of the festival. Guests can purchase $1 tickets and taste wings. On Saturday at 11am. guests can sample ribs and bbq as well as enjoy the live music throughout the day. Local breweries will be onsite with their favorite brews for you to enjoy. Samples range from 1-2 tickets. Proceeds benefit the Special Olympics. Location: The Wicked Tuna, 4123 US 17 Business, Murrells Inlet, SC.  

 

Ocean Boulevard’s 2015 St. Patrick’s Day Celebration Saturday and Sunday, March 14-15, 11 a.m. to 11 p.m. Featuring music, fun, authentic Irish foods and beverages! Activities include live performances, kids’ zone, games and more. Saturday also features a car show and street performers. The celebration continues Sunday with a “battle of the bands” for local entertainment. Ocean Boulevard will be closed to vehicles from Eighth Avenue North to Ninth Avenue North.  For more, contact Sherri Loomis at 843-421-9848.  

 

Myrtle Beach Irish Fest Saturday, March 14, 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. Gear up for the 6th Annual Irish Fest in Valor Park. There will be a long list of Irish beers available including Brooklyn Irish Stout, Founders Imperial Stout, Highland Gaelic and more. There’s also traditional Irish fare, live entertainment, vendors and a long list of children’s activities including face painting, inflatables, and more. North Myrtle Beach St. Patrick’s Day Parade & Festival Saturday, March 14, 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. The 27th annual St. Patrick’s Day Festival and Parade will be held on Main Street in North Myrtle Beach on March 14. This one-day, rain or shine event brings approximately 30,000 to celebrate being Irish and welcome the coming of spring. A parade begins at 9 a.m., followed by two stages of live music and a children’s area with rides and amusements from 11 a.m. until 4 p.m. Approximately 150 vendors will display their crafts, services, information, products, and serve a variety of treats along Main Street.
