At this time of the year there are events taking place that you just won’t find at any other time of the year – and we don’t just mean Thanksgiving and Christmas! There are many area holiday events held in November that are a real treat for those spending the season in one of our comfortable winter rentals. We’ve selected a few of them to share with you here but there are many more taking place all around the area. All of us at Litchfield Real Estate hope you will enjoy as many of these events as you can while having a very happy holiday!

The 10th annual Turkey Trot Run and Walk at Brookgreen Gardens on US 17 will be held Saturday, November 21. There will be a 5k, 1-mile family walk, and a Turkey Trot (26.2 yards) starting at 8:15 a.m. Sponsored by Tidelands Health HealthPoint. For registration and more information call Health Point at (843) 237-2205.     The popular Nights of a Thousand Candles, will be held from 3-10 p.m. Thursdays-Saturdays, Dec. 3-19 at Brookgreen Gardens, on US 17, between Murrells Inlet and Litchfield Beach. Cost is $18 for 13 and older ($14 members) and save $2 with purchase by Nov. 30, $10 ages 4-12 ($8 members); and free for age 3 and younger.  

The annual Atalaya Holiday Celebration will take place form 11 a.m.-4 p.m. on Dec. 5 at Atalaya in the park on U.S. 17, between Murrells Inlet and Litchfield Beach, across from Brookgreen Gardens. Entrance fee for this event will be $3 ages 6 and older, plus park admission: $5 ages 16 and older, $3.25 S.C. seniors, $3 ages 6-15. Sponsored by Friends of Huntington Beach State Park.   The annual Murrells Inlet Christmas Weekend with Christmas Tour of Homes will take place on Saturday, Dec. 5 with Annual Christmas Parade on Sunday, Dec. 6.   The annual Surfside Rotary Turkey Trot, benefiting Surfside Beach Rotary Club, will be held Nov. 26 beginning at the Surfside Beach Pier parking lot, at Ocean Boulevard and Surfside Drive. There will be a 10k and 5k at 8:30 a.m., 1 mile at 8:35 a.m., and “Tot Trot” 10:15 a.m. Entry fees vary.  

This year marks the 46th year for the SC State Bluegrass Festival being held from noon-10 p.m. on Thursday, Nov. 26 and noon-10:30 p.m. Friday and Saturday, Nov. 27-28, at Myrtle Beach Convention Center. Daily $40 general admission and $45 reserved seating for ages 16 and older, or $90 and $95, respectively, for a three-day pass; $20/$25 daily for ages 7-15, or $45/$50 for three-day pass; anyone 6 or younger free with paying parents; and $5 parking daily, free for vehicles with handicap designation.
