7th Annual Tour de Plantersville & Cultural Festival – November 1, 2025
The Annual Tour de Plantersville & Cultural Festival is a cycling adventure offering metric century 62-mile, 25-mile, and 12-mile ride options through the natural setting of the Plantersville community of South Carolina. The ride is perfect for avid cyclists training for their next race as well as for families wanting to share a healthy adventure together.
The ride takes participants along the historic scenic byway in Plantersville. A new stop has been added this year: Chicora Wood Plantation. Find out more about the plantation: click here.
The event includes a fun-filled day of activities with a cultural festival showcasing live music and a vast selection of treasures from local vendors. Stop by one of the tasty food trucks for a variety of local delights after a rejuvenating day of outdoor activity. From early Christmas shopping to face painting, the event offers something for everyone to enjoy.

Several rest stops throughout the route are equipped with water, restrooms, and snacks to help keep our cyclists going. Free parking is available onsite. Packet pick-up times and locations will be announced closer to the event. We strongly encourage participants to pick up packets in advance to avoid long registration lines. For those unable to haul the family wheels to the event, the Tour de Plantersville partners with Pee Dee Bicycle Company of Myrtle Beach and Cyclopedia of Pawleys Island to have rental bikes delivered to the event!

21st Annual Murrells Inlet Oyster Roast – November 8, 2025
All-You-Can-Eat Oysters, LIVE Music, and Venders! Join Murrells Inlet 2020 for the 20th Annual Oyster Roast in the parking lot of Wicked Tuna. Enjoy all-you-can-eat oysters and live entertainment. Plus a variety of other food selections as well as a large selection of libations! All proceeds benefit Murrells Inlet 2020, a 501(c)3 grassroots community non-profit organization.
$40/person admission – Rain or Shine, no refunds. Check-in at the front of the Wicked Tuna parking lot. Bring your ticket confirmation giving you access to the event, your own oyster bucket (fill it up as many times as you like), and an official oyster roast koozie. Oysters are first come first serve.

32nd Annual Pawleys Island Turtle Strut 5K/8K Run/Walk – November 15, 2025
Stride with purpose at the 32nd Annual Pawleys Island Turtle Strut. Get ready to race through one of America’s oldest summer resort town, where scenic marshes meet the Atlantic’s breeze. Choose your challenge – the 5K turns around in Bird’s Nest, while the 8K treats you to a stunning ocean panorama before looping back. This year’s race is held in memory of Chief Guy Osborne who passed away in 2015.
Show up bright and early on Saturday, Nov 15, at the Pawleys Island Nature Park in front of the town hall for a flat, fast and unforgettable course.

Villages of Hobcaw Barony – November 4 and 18, 2025
While Friendfield Village is the most frequently visited African American village at Hobcaw Barony, there are remnants of additional hidden villages rarely seen by the public but worth visiting. On this tour, participants will visit four such villages to discuss the history of each through oral interpretation and historical photographs. Participants will drive-by the lone cabin at Alderly/Oryzantia, land once owned by Joseph and Theodosia Burr Alston, before stopping in Barnyard Village. Next is Strawberry Village to see the one-room schoolhouse, and then Friendfield Village to visit the cabins and church.
Plan to dress for the weather, wear comfortable shoes and bring sunscreen, bug spray and water. Cancellation could occur due to inclement weather. A 14-person passenger bus will transport participants on rustic roads, which are often rutted and can be a rough ride. Hobcaw Barony tries to keep roads smooth, but conditions are not guaranteed. Please expect moderate exertion with standing and walking on uneven terrain at times.

Sweet Potato Festival: From the Revolution to Today – November 15, 2025
Sponsored by Georgetown Rev 250, enjoy food, history and community at the Sweet Potato Festival located on the beautiful grounds of Hasty Point Plantation! At this inaugural event, learn about the untold story of Oscar, the enslaved personal servant of Gen. Francis Marion, the “Swamp Fox.” His story reminds us that the Revolution wasn’t won by generals alone—but by the lives, labor, and resilience of people too often left out of history. Living history demos, Sweet Potato Pie Contest, Tea tasting & artisans, Storytelling + culture and more!
The Sweet Potato Festival celebrates South Carolina’s Revolutionary War history while highlighting the enduring contributions of African American and Native American communities. Through reenactments, educational presentations, indigo and agricultural demonstrations, and community partnerships, the event connects past and present under the theme: “From the Revolution to Today: Food, Freedom & Legacy.”

Winyah Watershed Paddle at Peachtree Landing – November 25, 2025
Join Reserve Education staff for a morning of exploration along the Waccamaw River. As we kayak through the Waccamaw River, we will talk about native plants, animals and why this ecosystem is so important to us as a community.
You must provide your own kayak, paddle, lifejacket, and whistle. This program is intended for experienced paddlers ages 18 and older. Rental kayak and gear can be obtained by attendees from local rental retailers in the Pawleys Island area.

Christmas Oyster Roast at Bellefield Plantation – December 13, 2025
Come to Bellefield Plantation at Hobcaw Barony to celebrate the holidays the old-fashioned way with a Lowcountry oyster roast and BBQ feast complete with chicken bog, side dishes, dessert, wine, and beer. Enjoy tours and interpretation of Bellefield Plantation including Southern customs and symbolism of Christmas greenery, plantation preparations of the 19th century, and the Baruch family’s hunting parties of the 20th century. Please BYOC (bring your own chair). Participants’ cars will need to navigate rustic roads comprised of sand and dirt. Event is rain or shine, so come dressed for the weather and bring sunscreen and bug spray. Due to catering requirements, a minimum number of participants must be registered by December 1. Event exertion level is moderate entailing some walking and standing for short periods.
