How to Get In The Mood with Holiday Events

There are many people that as soon as the Thanksgiving leftovers are gone they’re in full celebration mode for the next holiday. Others, even long after the lights are on the tree, are still struggling to really “feel the season.” A good way to help you get in the mood for the holiday season is to go out into the community and take advantage of the different holiday events going on. Do that and before you know it you’ll find yourself humming Christmas carols to yourself! Celebrating the Season in Dance: The holiday performances by the Litchfield Dance Arts Academy students. Dec. 12, 3 and 7 p.m., Litchfield Dance Arts Academy, 97 Otis Dr. $15/adults   The Sounds of Christmas: An evening of worship, praise and fellowship by the music ministry. Dec. 13, 5 p.m., Mount Zion Missionary Baptist Church. Visitors welcome.   Band concert: Christmas performance by the Pawleys Island Concert Band under the baton of Carson Turner. Dec. 15, 7 p.m., Pawleys Island Community Church. Free.   Holiday memories: Model trains, period Christmas trees and other items that evoke the spirit of Christmas past. Through the end of the year, Brookgreen Gardens. Free with regular admission.   Nights of a Thousand Candles: Illuminated sculpture gardens and seasonal entertainment. Dec. 10-12 and 17-20, 3-10 p.m., Brookgreen Gardens. $18/adults, $10/ages 4-12     A Fashionable Christmas: Candlelight tours of historic home decorated for the holidays by local designers. Dec. 10 and 17, 5-7 p.m., Kaminski House Museum. $5/adults, $3/youth, free/10 and under. Daily tours at 11 a.m., 1 and 3 p.m., $12/adults, $10/seniors, free/children 5 and under   Santa Paws: Photos of pets with Santa in a benefit for animal rescue. Saturdays through Dec. 19 from 11 a.m.-2 p.m., All 4 Paws.
